Why Do Christians Think That Their Version Of A Supernatural Being Is Any More Believable Than The Rest When?
the evidence for all of them is the same?
Isn’t it true that there has never been any evidence to prove the existence of spirits, ghosts, fairies, Father Xmas, unicorns, gods, flying spaghetti monsters, invisible pink unicorns or any other supernatural inventions?

From what I can tell, either you can prove what you say you believe or you can’t, and neither Christians, other believers, atheists or other groups can offer absolute proof in the area of spiritual and religious beliefs, world views and so on. So, what it comes down to is that we look around for the best answers we can find that will work for us. In my case, I can come up with a “beyond a reasonable doubt” scenario that works for me that God exists, and I can make it the rest of the way on faith. I also think that spiritual relationships are pretty much a personal thing, and I’m not looking to convert anybody to anything. It seems to me if the answers you’ve come up with work for you, then God bless you…whether you believe in God or not…and here’s hoping that you’re having a nice day!

Hello,
Well generally the Christian belief is actually in the same God as most other religions. There may be slight differences in theological views and doctrines, but it is essentially the same God. Also, not all Christians believe the same thing.
The latter of your argument has been thrown around by atheists for some time. The flying spaghetti monster, etc. No one claims any belief in the good old unicorn, etc. However, almost every tribe and every nation has some sort of belief in a higher power. There are no revelations, eye witnesses, etc. for the latter of your argument.
What it comes down to really is that science cannot ever explain the how or why in terms of our creation, simply because science will never be able to fully know everything within the universe.
It all had to come from somewhere, and most scientific evidence shows that the universe had a beginning. If it had a beginning, then it was created. But what was before that? Know one knows for sure. But I place my faith that it was God. The way I look at it, I can’t lose and I feel much more happier anyways when I live according to God’s way.

You argue against yourself. Because obviously even in the setup of your own question you discriminate religion from “spirits, ghosts, fairies, Father Xmas, unicorns, gods, flying spaghetti monsters, invisible pink unicorns or any other supernatural inventions”
This is why the Greek philosophers argued the other way with this argument.
But you just keep trying to avoid having a discussion.

Well, to start off, most (but not all) Christians believe in ghosts and spirits to some extent, and for the same reason anyone believes in anything: experience and eye-witness testimony. You will not find written testimony of people who believe in unicorns and flying spaghetti. You believe on Socrates, don’t you? Why? Because of the eye-witness testimony of writers from the period writing in a historical manner. He could be made up, but based on the evidence provided, we assume he was likely real. That is the how historical evidence works. The Bible is packed with literally thousands of historically and archeologically verifiable evidence that give scripture more credibility than some of your weak examples. Secondly, science itself provides some evidence. Science suggests that everything has a cause or origin, and yet even the most atheistic scientists (and all scientists are NOT atheists) cannot account for the origin of life or the universe. Even if the Big Bang and evolution occurred (and I believe in both of them), something caused them to happen. Life and the universe did not pop out of nothing. Whether it was God or something else, who knows, but in the end your answer is just as speculative as mine. Thirdly, and something you cannot understand– Christians experience the supernatural in their lives. You can deny it… but the truth is that you don’t know. You do not share their experience, and you have no evidence to suggest otherwise. Even if you whip out psychology, it can just as easily be turned back on yourself (perhaps you have Oedipal issues that make you react against Christianity because it promotes a surpreme father figure that aggravates your jealously hidden desire for your mother). In other words, you DON’T believe in God because of your personal experience, not because of any “logical” or “rational” explanation. I have yet to see a single logical or scientific argument on here that disproves the validity of Christian eye-witness testimony or the existence of God on here. It is all speculation that is contradicted by the experience of literally billions of people.
p.s. The ultimate funny thing about this whole argument: atheists rarely have any “evidence” for their beliefs, either. Nothing they offer counters the historical data, personal experience of religious people, and scientific evidence that favors a supernatural creator of the universe that couldn’t have magically have popped out of nothing. Based on what I have seen here, they have less actual evidence for their beliefs than I have for my own. LOL!

Because everyone wants to think their way is the right way… it’s just a manifestation of the ego. Their are msulims, hindus, and other religions who also believe that their religion is the supreme way and leadsto salvation. It doesn’t make logical sense to believe any these religions in their bigotry, but i think “the flying sphagetthi monster” pokes fun at all relgion without giving credit without looking into it’s foundation. I think religion points to a truth, but it can never be that truth itself… Religion would have ceased to exist a long time ago if it was not the foundation for something which humanity can relate to and knows is important.

OK, I seem to be the only person who agrees with you. I mean, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but… well, I can’t see how so many people believe in God. It’s just so unlikely. Also, yeah, it shouldn’t be any more believable than anyone else’s god.
I think they do it because, overall, Christianity seems to be one of the “best” religions at the moment, simply because it is less violent – so it seems more believalbe that their god is good, at least. Although there are dubious bits to any religious document. “Eye for and eye”, and all that. They all contradict themselves.
Sorry, rambling here… The point is, I agree with you, not with all the other answers you have saying “Hail the Messiah”, etc.

Its very hard to explain to a true non believer.. in order for you to understand why.. i’d probably have to write you an essay on the matter, but let me ask you this.. Would you avoid ever sleeping in a known haunted house by yourself whilst watching the most scariest horror film?.. or avoid a short cut through a grave yard by yourself in the early hours of the night even though it would get you home much quicker?.. or would you on hearing that someone you care for was admitted to an hospital after a serious crash would you secretly pray or want to just in case it may help?.. if you answered yes to all then you secretly harbour a belief in the supernatural..

The Bible is where the truth is. It is provable and can be examined. None of the other so called “religious writings” are capable of being examined. In the Bible, which has never been disproved, less than 1% has ever even come into question. Even the archaeologists come to the Bible to know where to dig.

each religion seems to believe that their god is the one true god
where all the bible is a story book
written by people who have changed parts of it
there seems to be no equality in the bible, females play a less important role, yes Mary gave birth to him, but woman have apparently been responsible for the ‘original sin’
which is a bunch of bull**** if you ask me
people want to believe there is a God for security, they are scared of what will happen when they die and wonder if there is a force out there looking over us

I know God is real because I have felt His presence over and over again in my life. I can hear His voice all of the time. I am not hearing voices that are not there. I know that God is real and I know that there could only be one God not thousands of them and that God is the God of the bible Jehovah.

I think because Jesus is real and the rest are not. How can one man who was lower than a slave make himself this popular? He is mentioned in many movies, they curse Him. You are free to not believe, it’s all good.

I’m sure the threshold of “evidence” can be adjusted to account for all those you mentioned especially pink unicorns.

Why is it that atheists think that their belief in the lack of God/god/s is any more believable than those who believe in supernatural beings.

Justin Martyr was quite clever when he stated the devil smart enough to create all the other religions predating chrisitanity.
I think it’s kind of funny.

You’re correct. I’m glad to see someone making sense on here today. There’s no evidence for God, Allah, Marduk, Zeus, Odin, Ahuramazda or any other god men created.
