What Type Of Movie Scene Is More Frightening-supernatural Horror Scene Or A Realistic Act Of Violence Scene?
Lots of people scream and get horrified at supernatural type movies where green ooze flows out of aliens or eyes bulge out and explode and so on. On the other hand, lots of movies might show horrifying but realistic scenes of someone being stabbed or raped or tortured, but the production values aren’t F/X or hyped or exaggerated. Which type of scene in a movie scares you more, and why?

REALISTIC… it seems to happen everyday all over the world… bothers the hell out of me. It’s random violence… and it’s real.

the realistic acts of violence scare me more.
i love horror & sf with aliens oozing green stuff, but i have a mental/emotional distance from it. I’m safe. An alien isn’t going to get me. it is something like an induced fear – like riding a roller coaster.
But, having said that, i WAS really caught up in John Carpenter’s The Thing. Maybe what really gets to me is good suspense.

Hmm that’s a toss up for me. I think the realistic violence scares me more because of the fact that it could happen to me.

I don’t really ever get SCARED by movies, though I was frightened by The Ring… but I was 13 when I saw that, haha. Since then, no movies have scared me, and supernatural-horror flicks interest me more than freak me out. That being said, realistic acts of violence scenes definitely disturb me because as others have said, they could actually happen to anybody.

definitely realistic act of violence, because you can relate to it more. it is a possible outcome of life, and its frightening to put yourself in that place
