What Should I Get Into If I Want To Work In The Paranormal Field?

I am very interested in stuff like “ghost hunting” and things like that.
I really want to do something in the paranormal field when I grow up.
I know that being a ghost hunter is not a real job.
Is there anything in this field that could be a good job for me?

  • You can just start calling yourself a paranormal investigator – there’s no degree or licensing required, because it’s not a real job. Schools don’t offer majors in it, although a few offering classes (from a scientific point of view, so skeptical). Your best bet is to get a research degree – a PhD in physics or psychology, depending on your particular interests in the paranormal – and go from there. Learn how science is done, how to come up with a good experiment that’s not biased, how to evaluation and publish your work. Of course, very, very few paranormal investigators will bother with this, because (a) it’s a lot of work (10+ years of college in most cases) and (b) it’s not fun to find out that cool gadget doesn’t do what you thought it did. Also, the whole lack of paranormal things when you investigate properly.

  • You could be a Ghost Expert or a Paranormal Investor. They are like people that go around places like Haunted Houses and stuff. They report their findings to see whether it is haunted or just a stupid myth. Anyway, if you always like a thrill and not scared of a fright then this is the job for you. Its freak me out when I hear some legends like Bloody Mary, Candyman Cane or even a simple ghost story like Casper. I’m just kidding, haha. I like reading about ghosts and I know this great Paranormal Investor.
Russel Lee he writes the Singaporen ghost stories series it has 17 issues and is a great read where children can type in their own stories or their own personal encounters to him and he will publish the best.

  • Good answer Nathan, study as much as you can, read lots of books on the subject (not Stephen King books), basically educate yourself as much as possible. You can take a paranormal researcher certification course (eg. https://www.prairieghosts.com/ghost_cour… ) which will get you your certification and then practice. Knowledge, learning how to debunk properly, and keep an open mind. These things will all help.

  • How about becoming a writer. Horror and Sci fi novels are big sellers. I know I buy them.
Edit. I’d be careful of another poster. He might be soliciting for that course. Be suspicious of anyone recommending a paranormal investigator course. Especially one you need a credit card for. I’m surprised the report monkeys haven’t jumped on that one. Open mind my dumpah.

  • Investigation of the paranormal is a hobby, not a profession. That is, unless you’re lucky and creative enough to get on board with a TV show. The market is pretty saturated right now, so good luck.

  • Star reading books, books and even more books. When you are done, find a local group of investigators, and then go on with reading books, books, and even more books. Without proper amounts of knowledge you won’t achieve anything.

  • search paranormal society and add your state…see what comes up.
do you watch TAPS? There are clerical positions that some hire for.
ever go to you tube? Paranormal (search). There are some fake things on you tube so be prepared.

  • I would suggest a major in physics. Also remember that any good paranormal investigator looks at all other options for occurrences before labeling them as paranormal.

  • Can you help out a local Paranormal group. I don’t think groups let anyone under 18 on an investigation. I wouldn’t allow it anyway. So see if a group will let you help them out.
