Is it possible that a person like me can have a paranormal ability later in life? Or do people have to have it from a young age?

Just writing up a short story for a class I’m doing, and the theme is urban fantasy. I wanted to get some unique supernatural abilities. Not just simple telekinesis, but something interesting. Any ideas?

I know pretty much nothing about the brain, and I was just curious. I did a little bit of research, and I was thinking that supernatural powers might be associated with the hypothalamus because that’s the part of the brain that controls adrenaline (right?).

i just need a cool word to describe people that have supernatural abilities. thanks oh and this is also for a story that i’m writing so something creative would be good.
