Is The Creepy Hymn From “poltergeist Ii” Real?
The song that Reverend Kane sings, “God Is In His Holy Temple”… is that an actual hymn or was it just written for the movie?
Because if it’s real, then they ruined a perfectly good hymn. I can’t imagine it’d be too popular anymore with Sunday church services, haha.

Yes, it is. For the curious, the complete lyrics are:
God is in his holy temple.
Earthly thoughts, be silent now.
While with rev’rence we assemble
And before his presence bow
He is with us now and ever
When we call upon his name
Aiding every good endeavor
Guiding every upward aim
God is in his holy temple
In the pure and holy mind
In the reverent heart and simple
In the soul from sense refined
Then let every low emotion
Banished far and silent be
And our souls in pure devotion
Lord, be temples worthy thee.

It’s actually a classic hymn that’s fairly popular, but I don’t think Poltergeist II ruined it. The Poltergeist movies aren’t very big with the people who would sing this song on a regular basis. Plus, Kain didn’t sing it the way it’s sung in real life, and only sang a small part of the lyrics. It’s doubtful most people who sing this hymn even know it was in the movie.

The misunderstood has always interested me.There’s something about the things we don’t understand….Hopefully someday our science will catch up.
