I Want To Be A Paranormal Investigator, What Kind Of Training Would I Need?
I want to be a paranormal investigator, what kind of training would I need? I really want to study the paranormal, and I allready do that but do I have to get some kind of training to officially call myself a paranormal investigator? I am 14 so I have time to figure out what I have to do before I can do it and time to be sure I really want to get into this, so any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to study parapsychology. You can study it at Duke University. And a paranormal investigator is called parapsychologist. I study parapsychology but just as a hobbie. I’m from mexico city, and here, that career doesn’t exist. =(

Well first of all, it don’t pay s#!t. I belong to a investigation group and the most you can hope for is cookies and coffee. You have to buy all your own equipment. I have invested about $3000 in video and other equipment in just the last year.
The people who in our group all have a “real job” to pay for their hobby. We do this because we have psychic abilities and are in it only to help people and spirits that need to move on.
I would think that you should go to a collage and major in Psychology with a minor in Parapsychology. The skills a Psychologist learns will help to understand people and give you a good job.

You need primarily training in scientific thinking and attitude.
The evidence so far indicates that there is nothing real to be
investigated in the paranormal area. So far it has been either
people fooling themselves into thinking they could do a certain thing, or fakers. James Randi’s million dollar check, to be paid to anyone who can demonstrate any paranormal
ability under proper conditions, has never been claimed by
anyone, despite quite a few attempts.

I was fascinated in the paranormal at your age as well, so I know where you’re coming from.
The first thing you need is a good understanding of science, experimentation, etc. so that you have the skills to think critically. Your purpose is paranormal research is to find out what’s out there and, if you find something what causes it.
So much of what you see today on cable are just a bunch of dudes with cameras creating elaborate ghost stories. Many paranormal researchers today are just anomaly hunters. They aren’t researching or studying anything. They are looking for strange things they can call ghosts.

Since you are young and the ones investigating right now are finding nothing, I would go in a different direction.
I would not go along believing it is about afterlife, rather study parallel dimensions. I think that is where evidence will show some day , not at the cemetery, Although there may be spirits, I think they are residual. The things we have interaction with may be other dimensional beings.

You dont need training. It’s not likely that you will be doing paranormal investigating as a career, more likely a hobby. If you have a local team that you know of, then talk to them. Maybe they will let you come along on some investigations.
But, unless you are lucky enough to be on a cable show, or have a book deal, then its not a career move, its a hobby.

This is not a “official” job title and if you know how to take pictures and using an audio recorder then you can do the job…interpreting the results, however, is another matter entirely.

As others have answered paranormal investigator is not really a career choice. Thus, you don’t need any specific training or education. You might be interested in visitinghttp://www.haunted-places.com that lists organizations by
state so you could seek out one of these and possibly join an investigation to see them at work.
Now if you want to work in the field of parapsychology, which is the scientific investigation of currently unexplained human abilities, you will probably need a PhD or other doctoral level degree in a traditional science
(biology, physics, chemistry, etc.) or one of the social sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology, etc.) it really depends on what approach you wish to take to investigating.
