first you have to be completely insane, like eating shards of metal kind of insane. then you build machines tat make beeping sounds at random intervals then BAM! you are a paranormal investigator

It’s great being a paranormal investigator – I’ve been doing this for over 20 years now. Check with groups in your area to see if they are accepting new members. Most groups will train you using their methods and equipment. We train anyone who comes with our group.
I got started on my own, having family & friends call me if there was something strange in their homes. Eventually, I had a group that got too big and we had to shut it down. Now, it’s just my husband, my sons and me.
Read everything you can. I’ve put some links in for you to check out.

The answer is both simple and hard at the same time.
First, you should pick a field and focus on that.
Do you want to investigate ghosts? UFO’s? creatures (also known as cryptozoology)? psychic phenomena?
2) Read. Read. Read. Once you’ve picked a focus, go to the library and read all you can about the subject.
3) Register with Meetup.com. Chances are there are other people in your area that share the same interests.http://www.meetup.com

Find someone to mentor you.
Make sure you join an already reputable group who will help you learn the ropes
What is it like. It is to be taken serious and to be out there to debunk it before finding proof. There needs to be background checks on the house or land. It is sometimes boreing and long and tiresome work.
Yet what a rush when something is proven paranormal
